About The School

Monbulk College, established in 1963, is a co-educational college that promotes personal excellence in a caring environment.

The college is facilitated by its medium size of around 500-600 students. A long standing reputation for excellent VCE results is well founded. In the past three years our students have received VCE Premier's Awards in Art, VCE VET Creative & Digital Media, Studio Arts, Equine Studies and Excellence Awards from VCAA for our VCE VM program. The college has a strong emphasis on recognising and celebrating students’ achievements.

A large range of enrichment and enhancement programs are available to students within and outside the classroom: in areas cultural and artistic, sporting and leisure, and in competitions such as the Australian Mathematics Competition and ICAS, the International Competition and Assessment for Schools. International Tours provide an opportunity for global learning experiences with Sister school relationships with Japanese and German schools provide opportunities to host visitors and to travel to Japan and Germany; and opportunities for students to visit developing countries through the World Challenge program. Our renowned Volleyball program has extensive participation by students across all year levels, including achieving results at Australian Schools Cup, placing us in the Top 10 in Australia.

The college has a strong focus on Science, Technology and The Arts and a reputation for excellence in Creative Arts within the Dandenong Ranges and statewide in exhibitions such as VCAA Seasons of Excellence: Top Arts and Top Designs. There are many opportunities for student leadership with Monbulk College; House and Sports captains, cross age sports coaching and a strong student involvement through Monbulk Student Voice.

Environment, Facilities & Special Features

Monbulk College’s students enjoy eight hectares of grounds including a large oval, a range of recreation areas, several shaded ‘sails’ areas and lovely garden setting that include sculpture and art work created by students.

In 2018, the college has started a new building program which will see the development of a new Library, Administration and classrooms wing. This building program will continue into the development of new classroom areas, including a Student Wellbeing Centre, functional and engaging, modern learning spaces. The college also has a 240 seat theatre, a music complex, and a large sports centre containing two full size basketball courts and a free standing canteen with a verandah overlooking the bush-land sanctuary area.

Monbulk College has integrated technology within the learning program and has a 1-to-1 BOYD program, with students using notebook devices. The college actively engages technology for learning including access to video conferencing equipment and Data Projectors around the college, as well as a macOS computer lab for The Arts. Creative & Digital Media is offered as a VET course for VCE students; and School Based Apprenticeships are part of the VCE VM program which complements the strong academic basis of the college.

Monbulk College is a medium sized co-educational college that provides pathways for students from Year 7 to Year 12. We offer Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Head Start, Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) to ensure it meets individual student’s career directions.
