Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES)

CHES is a new centre of excellence for high-achieving and high-ability senior secondary students. Students will be able to study an accelerated subject at CHES, which can contribute to their ATAR and earn them university credits, while completing their VCE studies at school.

CHES provides government-funded programs that are exclusively for students in Victorian government schools for additional extension, challenge and support. From Term 1 2023, CHES will commence a range of Higher Education Studies (first-year undergraduate subjects) in partnership with universities and two specialist VCE studies (Extended Investigation and Algorithmics).

Students have the option to undertake one subject with CHES as part of their overall VCE program. They will be able to study online or at the state-of the-art CHES facility in South Yarra or a flexible mix of on-site and online learning. In addition, students enrolled in a subject at CHES will have access to the CHES Student Enrichment Series which includes masterclasses and mentoring with a range of university partners. Students wishing to enrol in a subject through CHES will need to meet selection criteria and be given Principal approval to apply to CHES.

For students interested the challenge of a High Education Study in Year 12, whether it be for Year 12 in 2023 or the future, please speak to Mrs Gittus.
